Amongst the trove of Sega Genesis ROMs that come out almost like clockwork every year, Sega, AM2 and Treasure have been throwing out a number of surprises lately. That bunny sure had it in for us.
Consider this as your friendly reminder. Just announced by SEGA is the re-release of Daytona USA for both Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. The Sega Saturn (and arcade!) Now featuring a widescreen presentation, online multiplayer, leaderboards, native steering wheel support, and possibly the biggest feature: Karaoke Mode so you can put on your best Takenobu Mitsuyoshi. Both versions are slated for release in the US on October 25th (PSN) and 26th (XBLA) for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Space Bucks. Be sure to check out the trailer in this post for footage of the game in action.
Speaking Space Bucks, don’t forget about Treasure’s output of Sega Saturn (and arcade!) titles for XBLA including the recently released Guardian Heroes and Radiant Silvergun. Both featuring online play, leaderboards, filters all at a price that people can actually afford (It’s a better alternative than dusting off your Saturn Back-Up RAM carts or possibly fishing out cash for outrageous after-market prices.

I’m excited. You have no idea how much I’ve wanted SEGA to rerelease some of their old Saturn titles! I never owned one, mainly because I already had an N64 and a PS1, and there weren’t enough good games on the Saturn to catch my interest. There were a good couple I wished I could play though, and this is one of them. Here’s hoping SEGA also rereleases Fighting Vipers and NiGHTS.
C’mon Sega, where’s Mah NiGHTS? D:
Anyways, it’s good to see Sega is getting past this whole “Dodgy Port” thing.
ROLLING STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAART
interesting Im probably going to get it for the nostalgia though i wonder if there gonna re-release sonic R with online play lolz
Thank god Sega renewed the license with ISC. I would have bought it anyhow, but Sega Racing Classic just didn’t have that marketing appeal. And the partly modified music would have been a bummer.
Sounds like a addition to Sonic Generations.
Nah, just kidding, I’m pretty happy we get a great game on the market.
GEE. EY. EMM. EEE. OH. VOO(?!). EEE. ARR!
GEE-EY-EMM-EEE-OH-VOO-EEE-ARR!
GAME OVER! GAME OVER! GAME OVER! GAME OVER!
Ha, this is pretty cool.
Can anyone tell me where I recognize that music from? D:
Maybe something Sonic related, or something…
here’s hoping more Saturn gems get re-released in the future, possibly Fighters Megamix, Burning Rangers, NiGHTS Into Dreams, and maybe Sonic 3D Blast!
As far as 3D Blast is concerned, it looks like Sega is content with sticking to the Genesis version as seen on Steam, Wii’s Virtual Console and so on.
I hate that. I’ve played both versions, and the Saturn one is superior in every way possible. What’s WITH SEGA?
If they do NiGHTS, since everyone is mentioning it, they should do the PS2 version. All they did there was up the graphics and have a widescreen mode, the original is included too, it’s really whether or not you want it to look nicer. And then they took it and only released it only in Japan, I was only able to play it recently after I modded my PS2.
This better come to Europe!
I see that this is coming with one of the game’s original Beta Elements – it says 3rd/4 instead of 3/4 as it does in the original, which was done in the beta/1993 release of the game.
Upon closer inspection this mostly happens during the new multiplayer modes.
