SONIC CLUB

36b37f47087fb52d

I always have fun reminiscing about good times with old friends. Tonight is one of those special nights where I stumbled around on that wide, worldly web called the Internet, in search of ancient Sonic the Hedgehog fan websites/webrings to talk about. A specific website of old, sonic-club.net, was something I wanted to share. As with all good things, it has seen it’s end. Removing the dash, however, has brought my attention to something… very special, and I wanted to share it with you all. Ladies and gentleman, straight from Nagoya, Japan, where anything can happen:

Yes, this is a real place. However, people in the video are speaking Portuguese, because the club decided to have a Portuguese-themed night, I guess! If you look closely, you might see Sonic Team doing lines of cocaine off of Sonic’s quills.

Have an Extensive Look at Sonic 1 iOS/Android’s Debug Features

Watch live video from vidyaretro on TwitchTV

If you’ve heard of the recent rumblings of the debug mode for the latest Sonic 1 port, you may not be aware of some of it’s hidden features that some of you die hard Sonic fans will get a kick out of. Rolling balls, goggles, animal buddies, unfinished editor features and more await you in this port, and we’ve got a video of almost two hours worth of content.

You have a number of ways for trying out the debug mode yourself. First start a “No Save” game and choose a character. If you have a controller plugged in you can use the traditional method of entering the cheat codes (Up, Down, Left, Right, Hold A + Start) or on the touch screen, after selecting. Otherwise, on the touch screen, tap the letters S-E-G-A in that order and listen for a ring chime. Then hold two fingers on the bottom of the touch screen. When the title screen appears, slide both fingers to the top of the screen to enter the level select.

Here you can enter the sound test for some additional cheats.

04, 01, 02, 06 – Obtain all emeralds

01, 09, 09, 01, 00, 06, 02, 03 – Debug mode.

To activate debug mode tap the GUI in the top left corner of the screen.

Classic Sonic Has Advice For You Through Source Film Maker

Valve recently released its Source engine video editing software to open beta to allow talented individuals to create movies using Source-compatible assets. YouTube user Waxination decided to try their hand at remaking a certain segment from the popular (and highly “memetic”) ’90s Saturday morning cartoon, Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog.

Aside from showing a small sample of what can be done within the Source Film Maker, it’s also interesting to see how well the Classic Sonic model fits with Jaleel White’s Sonic. Although it’s very unlikely the short’s creator will do much more than finish the clip, it could be an interesting undertaking for a group of fans to try and “adapt” an episode of the cartoon using the film engine.

Check out one more example by YouTuber ChaoFanatic below! Thanks to RGamer2009.

SA3 Rumors Officially Addressed by SEGA of Antarctica

Are you the type of Sonic fan who wants SA3 more than anything? Are you one of the people who believe it will single-handedly save the Sonic franchise? Do you clamor for any sign from above that it will fall straight from the heavens into your console?

If so, your faith in SA3 may be at an all-time high in recent weeks. Takashi Iizuka’s positive reaction to the SA3 chants at Sonic Boom rekindled that fire in your heart. SA3 web domains registered a couple of weeks ago made you all the more hopeful. Even though they weren’t registered by SEGA themselves, you refused to believe that you had come so close yet so far.

In your mind, you will get your SA3 at any cost.

Today, SEGA of Antarctica’s Ben Kalough came forward and addressed the recent events regarding SA3, and even released a trailer that is sure to put to rest anymore rumors.

SA3 hopefuls, be careful what you wish for.

Sonic Boom 2012: The One Where Retro Plays a Social Experiment

While we waited in line to get into Sonic Boom, there came a point between the talks of Rainbow Gems, Vanilla the Rabbit, and talking with Ruby Eclipse about the future of Sonic where a fiendish idea was conceived.

“If a small group of people belted out the first few lines of ‘Live and Learn‘, how many people would join in the song?”

This is the result.
