How Fleetway Played The Games, Part 9: Of Chaos and Chaos Emeralds

Once again it’s just over a year since last time in the series. Having gone through a variety of one-offs and short-run stories, we rejoin Sonic the Comic at issue #175, for the final original story in the comic’s run – the 10-part adaptation of the Dreamcast launch title and fan-favourite that is Sonic Adventure. The world of Sonic Adventure being as different as it is to what had already been established through StC’s continuity, the writers decided to do their own unique take on the story. I’ll warn you at this point though – because this is the last story of StC, there’s some MAJOR spoilers ahead in tying up loose ends and just throwing a few curve balls at the reader. Consider yourselves warned, OK? Where else do you get spoiler warnings for material that’s nearly 2 decades old?
Right. Let’s get this thing rolling! Hit the jump to continue.

Sonic News Round Up: Road to SXSW

2017 promises to be a big year for Sonic the Hedgehog. With not one but two major game releases slated to come out, excitement and speculation has been running wild. Since being announced last July, both Sonic Mania and “Project Sonic 2017” have been shrouded in mystery, with only scant pieces of information being released on either title since their grand unveiling.
Though there’s nothing wrong with keeping things close to the chest, SEGA has promised to reveal some new details on both games at this year’s SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas. To get the hype train rolling, the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter has been teasing some of what’s to come, especially for Sonic’s return to form in the 2D platforming landscape.

Unleashed Project 2.0 Cancelled

Those looking forward to the Unleashed Project will be disheartened to hear that the project is no more. In a statement released by the Project’s head, S0LV0, she’s stated that it was time to call it quits. From the Twitlonger post:

So, here it is. I can’t begin to express how sorry I am about this, but I’m cancelling Unleashed Project 2.0. For a long time I was really passionate about it, and I felt I had something special to share with people by working on it, but that passion is gone. I know of no one I could pass the workload onto, nor do I plan to release my “completed” work as none of it is fully polished. I’m sincerely sorry to those who were looking forward to it, but I hope you’ll understand by this far into my post that it was extremely unhealthy for me.

S0LV0 goes on to talk about what she’ll be doing from this point and more in her full Twitlonger post which can be read here. For those holding onto hope, S0LV0 tweeted that DarioFF, the person in charge of the Unleashed Project prior to her, may be interested in taking the project over. We at Retro wish S0LV0 all the best in what she does and look forward to her projects in the future.

On this SEGA News Bits, we are doing things a bit differently since SEGA news seems to be slow.
