Annual fundraiser Sonic Relief, which raises money for the UK charity Comic Relief, has raised nearly £600 in a month’s time–a huge jump over last year’s £375. In order to give the fundraising group an even bigger boost, Sonic remixers Mr. Stream and RadioSEGA‘s GavvieUK (aka Living Sedative) have teamed up to produce Sonic for Sonic 2, an album of Sonic-themed remixes. The first half is handled by Living Sedative and the second by Mr. Stream.
The suggested donation for download is £2 (roughly USD $3.25), though an additional amount can be donated if you want. The proceeds from the sales will be donated towards Sonic Relief. The fundraiser runs through March 19, so be sure to grab a copy of the album before then.
You can follow Sonic Relief’s progress at @sonicreliefuk. Best of luck to Doctor MK and everyone involved!

The mr stream ones were good… But the other ones were horrible, repetitive, ear bleeding, chavy mindrapes of songs.
I’m going to stick my neck out and say “I am guaranteed not to download this album”.
The reason? After listening to the entire album on the Bandcamp website, I don’t think it’s worth the suggested donation price. The music is quite clearly based upon (or possible with) common MIDI samples, and I don’t feel it’s of a sufficient standard to ‘surpass’ the quality of its source files.
Sonic Relief will still see a sizeable donation from me, but it will have absolutely nothing to do with this album. Surely I’m not alone in holding this opinion?
Nah, I also think I’m just going to donate directly, too. This album was bad last year and it’s bad this year, too.
Just wanna say that the album this year wasn’t based on any source files. Mr Stream and myself created this album from scratch.
It’s a little bit disheartening that you feel so badly about the album, but hey. Opinions are opinins, and I know that this isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. Thanks for listening at least =)
Actually, I quite liked your version of “Golden Beach Zone,” as well as last year’s “Green Hill Sonata” and “Starry Starry Starlight Zone.”
Anyway, best of luck to Sonic Relief.
I didn’t like the music. To be honest I don’t recognize any of it.
You’re not meant to recognise any of it. It’s a Sonic CD Japanese/American style soundtrack battle royale for a game that doesn’t exist.
I see. The term “remixes” is a bit of a misnomer then.
In any case the music isn’t very good IMHO.
Yes, it is an unfortunate misnomer. Gavvie wrote the blurb, not me.
I did indeed write the blurb, but I made no mention of this album being remixes of anything. I think that’s just the way it’s been perceived what with last year’s being an -admittedly shoddy- “remix” album.
Still, very happy to report that with 2 and a half weeks to go, we’ve just surpassed £200!
