Admittedly, Ice Cap Zone is one of video game music’s most re-arranged and remixed tracks out there—OCRemix released an entire album’s worth of Ice Cap remixes, for goodness’ sake. However, the saturation of fans’ takes on the song does not in any way dilute how amazingly awesome Ice Cold Retro is. Written by Joshua Morse, the remix was composed for Obligatory Ice Level Day at TheSpeedGamers and has a wonderful electro-funk flavor to it that feels both fresh and right at home in the Sonic canon of music.

The song sounds incredible, and catchy. It’d be nice is songs like the Ice Cold Retro remix were used in future Sonic games that in several ways resemble the classic games (like Sonic the Hedgehog 4), so that way those said games could at least have a good soundtrack for the fans to lsiten to while racing through stages.
….I was disappointed. Didn’t work for me at all.
^ That…
Yet again, I find myself insanely disappointed by some of the horrendous “remixes” that the OC Crowd choose, to show off their skills.
OC used to be “THE BEST!!”, and their mixers were definitely some of the finest mixers out there.
You’d think these big-event album things would be AWESOME..
They’re usually not.
Pecan Can’t Listen Anymore…. ARRGGHH!!!
A little disappointed. He really had something going format-wise, but I think it has to do with the sound-font or instruments used. The song has potential should he use different “voices.” The melody, I’m not sure…it sounds brassy, too in your face, strangely annoying? It can’t make up it’s mind if it wants to stay funky, or move into a Sade inspired smooth jazz tune (1:33, 2:50). haha. 2:20 also reminds me of Mario Kart: Double Dash or PaperBoy. 3:06 actually sounds kinda neat because the melody became the focus of the song. The solo at 3:40 with the elc. piano is weak volume wise! Increase that volume, and it’s solid, solid as a rock!
I guess what I’m getting at is I understand the message, but it’s spoken in a strong English accent to the point I can’t understand it. Like Susan Boyle when she talks, can’t really understand her at sometimes, but I get her message after I truly analyzed it.
This review ended up lengthy, just like his tune. I will give this a 3.5/5, but it’s not something that will end up in my iTunes library like a lot of other Ice Cap Zone remixes.
