Sonic Time Twisted Released After 12 Years of Development

It’s rare that a Sonic fan game gets fully released. Many are often cancelled or often stay in development hell after releasing one or two demos. But for once one of those games managed to get out of said development hell and be released as a full fledged game.
Sonic Time Twisted, created by Overbound Game Studio, has finally been released after being twelve years in development. The fan game features 28 acts across 8 zones, time travel, new special stages, and a soundtrack that’s headed up by Hinchy.
The full game can be downloaded on Overbound’s site, and the soundtrack can be found here. You can also find the game’s previous demo releases on our wiki.

We can finally show the first trailer of Big’s Big Fishing Adventure 3, featuring the voice of Mike Pollock! This trailer, inspired by Sonic Adventure‘s Japanese commercials, teases Dr. Eggman’s role in the game. It also shows the Big-Hazard Battle mini-game in action for the first time. This is the first in a series of trailers that will showcase the game’s various characters.
Big’s Big Fishing Adventure 3 is a fan-made visual novel starring Big the Cat featuring various mini-games. It will show what the purple feline was up to during the events of Sonic Adventure 2, revealing why he was hanging around in the game’s stages. It is also partially being developed by Sonic Retro staff.

Sonic Runners Adventure Leaked

It’s been a while since we’ve had a honest to goodness leak of a Sonic game. But we have a new one thanks to Gameloft’s customer care site. The site has a support page dedicated to Sonic Runners Adventure, a yet to be announced follow-up to the 2015 game Sonic Runners.
In case you missed out on it: Sonic Runners was a free endless runner for mobile devices developed by Sonic Team that had its servers shut down last year. Like our review of the game describes it, it was a solid game buried under a large amount of technical issues and scummy gambling mechanics. Going by the support page for Adventure though, it may be what the original game should have been. Continue Reading

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed: Turbo Edition Speeds Towards Nintendo Switch

UPDATE: Hey so this was a dumb April Fools thing. Sorry about that. Blame Tracker.
Today on the last day of EGX Rezzed, Sega Europe has made a huge surprise announcement. And that announcement is that a new version of last gen’s best Sonic game is coming to Nintendo Switch: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed: Turbo Edition, not featuring Big the Cat!
The press release states that the game will run at 1080p and 60fps in docked mode, and 720p/60fps in portable mode. In addition to the characters in the original game, this new version will feature new characters such as Opa Opa from Fantasy Zone, Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza 0, and Hatsune Miku from Project Diva Future Tone. The guest characters Wreck-It Ralph and Danica Patrick seem to be gone though, along with Big the Cat, who is not in this game.
You can find all of the screenshots along with a press release below. Sega also put out a teaser image with silhouettes of additional characters like Bayonetta. There’s also this official website, which, strangely enough, does not feature Big the Cat. Continue Reading

Sonic News Round Up: Road to SXSW

2017 promises to be a big year for Sonic the Hedgehog. With not one but two major game releases slated to come out, excitement and speculation has been running wild. Since being announced last July, both Sonic Mania and “Project Sonic 2017” have been shrouded in mystery, with only scant pieces of information being released on either title since their grand unveiling.
Though there’s nothing wrong with keeping things close to the chest, SEGA has promised to reveal some new details on both games at this year’s SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas. To get the hype train rolling, the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter has been teasing some of what’s to come, especially for Sonic’s return to form in the 2D platforming landscape.

SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol Dumped and Released to Celebrate MAME’s 20th Anniversary

The once long-elusive SegaSonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol has finally been found, dumped, released, signed, sealed, delivered by the good folks of the Dumping Union, a group dedicated to preserving old arcade games that may have otherwise been lost to time. Cosmo Fighter was released in celebration of MAME, a notorious emulator that aims to recreate the hardware of thousands of arcade titles, which turned twenty years old on February 5th. An entire playthrough was uploaded to YouTube by ashthedragon, as seen above. If we’re doing our math correctly, every known, officially released Sonic game has been dumped as of this release, meaning all that’s left are prototypes/tech demos and any rare unreleased games.
