Sonic CD, Sonic 4 Episode 1 And More Get Released On Steam, Generations 50% Off Until Monday

More than a month after it was released on consoles, the new version of Sonic CD has finally hit Steam today. And for a limited time only if you buy the game you will get a free Metal Sonic costume for SEGA and Three Rings’ free to play MMO, Spiral Knights. You can also get Tails’ tails by buying energy within said game, though sadly these do not give you the ability to fly. Screenshots and a video of the costumes can be seen after the jump.

Besides that, Sonic 4 Episode 1 and the Casino Night Zone DLC for Sonic Generations have been released on the service as well. The former was already spotted on the Steam registry some time ago and the latter was supposed to be released on December 26th last year, but was delayed for unknown reasons. If you haven’t gotten Generations yet, the game is now 50% off until January 23rd as a weekend deal along with all other Sonic games besides those released today with the exception of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, which is 75% off.

Sonic Generations PC Demo Now Up On Steam

While the PC version of Sonic Generations has been out for a couple of months now, there hasn’t been a demo people could download to see if their PC could actually run the game. SEGA decided PC users have waited long enough now and has released one on the Steam service. While I don’t know for certain what the contents of the demo are, it’s easy to assume that it’s the same demo the console versions got, which had both classic and modern acts of Green Hill Zone.

You can download the demo on this page, you will need to download the Steam client to be able to play it.

Relive Archie, One Panel At A Time

There is something infinitely magical about Tumblr. It’s praises have been sung in the past before on Sonic Retro, from places that make you squeal in delight at Sonic the Comic imagery, to the ever-growing collection of .gifs featuring Sonic running in ways you won’t see in any beta. Well kids and kidettes, strap yourself in: another Tumblr of interest is coming your way.

Serving as the perfect counterpart to the Fuck Yeah Sonic the Comic comes A Moment of Archie Sonic.

[UPDATE: Gone!] Get Autographed Sonic Generations Albums And More From Jun Senoue

[EDIT: And as quick as it came, the offer is already gone. Impressive!]

Looking to grab Sonic Generations’ True Blue album in a more tangible way than slapping a random download onto your media player? Lead Sonic music honcho and Crush 40 guitarist Jun Senoue is selling copies of the album at his official website for $55 with the added incentive that he’ll autograph the case for you.

On top of that, the first few orders also get a Sonic themed black guitar pick, something that might go well for those very few of you that dropped some serious ring for a replica of Senoue’s Sonic-themed ESP guitar.

Supplies may be limited, so for those wanting to get their hands on the CD, head on over to JunSenoue.com’s store and get it before it’s gone.

Sonic Needs Insurance

I’m not sure why Sonic would be shopping for insurance with Progressive, or at all… it’s not like he drives the Tornado!

Sonic Fan Gaming Update

Over the years, Sonic fan games have certainly evolved from the days of Klik & Play. Back in 1995, Sonic Boom started it all, with collecting apples and avoiding bees… it was an amazing feat, being the first noted Sonic fan game, and today’s major fan games still provide that same sense of amazement only on a much bigger scale! As of recent, Sonic Fan Remix took center stage on the fan gaming scene. It ultimately changed the way fan games were thought of previously by the public; disposable projects on par with fan fiction. It caught the immediate attention of major gaming blogs, companies, and developers, so much in fact that Sega’s representatives requested Megaupload, the site which hosted the download file, to take down the file because they believed it would disrupt the sales of the then upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1. Sonic Christmas Blast Free to Stream on Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is an ever growing service. Starting as a free shipping service, Amazon has added in benefits over time including offering a library service for Kindle devices as well as free streaming videos. While the season may be over, it’s not too late to relive the Christmas spirit with DiC’s Animated Christmas Special. Of course, it’s really just the Inspector Gadget Christmas Special followed by Sonic Christmas Blast. It’s at least in the highest quality possible, and it’s free!* What a steal!

You may recall that David the Lurker covered the special as part of the 12 Days of Sonic Retro Christmas. Those of you who have Amazon Prime memberships, why not take up on his suggestion? Keep in mind that the Sonic cartoon shows up directly after the Inspector Gadget special, and never mind that Princess Sally from the SatAM series appears for some reason, or the sloppy animation, or that Santa can’t seem to protect himself from Dr. Claw AND Dr. Robotnik on two separate occasions. Pretty sloppy St. Nick…

*Free with $79 purchase of Amazon Prime membership.
