“Not Enough Rings” Kickstarter Nears Time Over, Speed Shoes Required

photo-mainI’m not usually one to talk about Kickstarters, let alone go ahead and plug them. But seeing as this is a Sonic the Hedgehog website, when a Kickstart about a Sonic shows up, it’s hard not to mention it. What I’m speaking of is Veronica Vera’s Not Enough Rings, a printed collection of the webcomic by the same name. The premise is each strip focuses on a single act from the four classic Mega Drive games, offering a humorous spin on what lays in store for our hedgehog hero. When the Kick began, it gained plenty of coverage across the usual places including our very best friends at SEGAbits. But! The entire campaign is in its final hours, and once its over, who knows if you’ll be able to get it without spending an absurd amount of money on eBay?

Since it has reached its goal, there’s no fear of it not hitting your shelves in the near future. But for those who get very excited about the color blue, a last minute incentive has been included. If the whole thing reaches fifteen grand, the pages of the book will have blue painted edges. Exciting, no?

There’s also the usual “hey, pledge more and get other things to satisfy your cravings” type deals, but that’s best explained on the page itself. Click here to journey to the Kick, and if it seems like your type of thing, go ahead and order it. The book is only twenty five dollars. Heck, that’s like…five coffees if you like crazy things at Starbucks! And you can still call yourself a hipster.

Australia Hints SEGA 3D Classics Heading Westward

Earlier this month, Japansonic1title saw the arrival of SEGA’s first set of 3DS Classic remakes of four key titles from their Mega Drive and arcade library. Sonic The Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Super Hang-On, and Space Harrier all received a 3D-depth face lift and plenty of other features, but SEGA remained quiet as to if these titles would make their way to western 3DS systems.

Enter the Australian Classifications Board, which posted up ratings results for 3DS versions of Sonic and Altered Beast. In the past, every time the ACB has released ratings for games, the titles sooner or later swept across other regions, so the fact SEGA’s 3DS Classics library is likely going global shouldn’t surprise anyone.

It’s not quite the Christian “Taxman” Whitehead and Head Cannon release of Sonic 1 that iOS and Android platforms saw, but it’s still a Sonic 1 for those that want yet another copy of the game.

Nintendo has also unveiled additional information regarding Game Gear games appearing on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console during their previous Nintendo Direct. While they have mentioned of releasing at least four more titles previously, although the last time they said those games would appear soon was…a year ago. Nintendo has announced that they will be releasing them soon, again, as well as reveal more Game Gear titles which includes additional Sonic games as well as Tails’ second (and last?) game and even Dr. Robotnik’s own “game.”

There are more non-Sonic games appearing including Columns, Defenders of Oasis and Shining Force II: The Sword of Hajya. The full list can also be seen on our sister site, SEGAbits.

PSA: All Stars Racing Transformed Has Game-Ending Bug

What can you say about launch day games? They’re usually the sloppiest, trashiest bits of data to hit a system if they’re not from a first party developer. It’s unfortunate that this is so with All-Stars Racing Transformed on Wii U. It seems a bug has been reported that essentially makes the game unplayable.

Those starting off the tour mode in single player find themselves at an impasse on the first boost challenge stage when the checkpoints you must pass through to extend time fail to load, essentially making the level on all difficulties unbeatable. There’s no getting around the stage either, leaving Wii U owners high and dry on the game.

This seems to affect all Wii U consoles that downloaded the update patch for the game upon boot up. Deleting the update data causes the system to redownload it upon booting up the game, and taking it offline will cause the system to complain at you to get an Internet connection to play the game.

If you’re deciding still which version to get, we highly advise staying away from the Wii U port until further notice.  Hopefully Sumo Digital and Sega are on top of this and working up another patch, but such a gross oversight on a release game is reprehensible and lazy. Come on, Sega, this isn’t 2006 anymore.
