Eggman Joins Sonic Dash, Sonic 1 and 2 Updated

Sonic-Dash-1A slew of updates rolled out for several Sonic titles across Android and iOS devices. Sonic 1 and 2 now both enjoy more stability and Android Kit Kat’s unobtrusive mode, while iOS7 support is included on the Apple side for Sonic 1, and the ability to use a controller instead of smudging screens with filthy fingers. Sonic 2‘s updates further refine multiplayer to be less of a hassle (though that still doesn’t seem to stop people from disconnecting… rude.)

If for some reason you still happen to be playing Hardlight Studios’ Sonic Dash, you’ll be delighted to find out that after putting up with Zazz beating you like a “DRUUUUUUM” for the past several months, a new boss has stormed out the gate to wreak havoc on the ever repetitive Seaside Hill Zone.

Every other run through the never-ending serpentine roads will result in Zazz and Eggman switching places to try and cut your run short. Unfortunately, while being two different characters, Hardlight decided to phone it in and just reuse the same boss A.I. So it’s less a new boss, more Zazz in an Eggman suit. At least the Egg Hornet theme from Sonic Adventure makes a return!

The update also contains new achievements for Silver and the announcement of the next global challenge to unlock series jewel thief Rouge the Bat. Neither are actually up and running as of publish time.

Does the Sonic 2 update add the real HPZ bgm, or it’s still lazily using the multiplayer MCZ theme?

Still using the original music from S2B. I replaced it by editing the music files around just to see what it would be like. Taxman made the right call.

      Er… how was that lazy?

Some people think that the beta HPZ theme is what should be used, but Taxman and Stealth used the multiplayer MCZ theme because A.) apparently that WAS the intended theme and B.) the Hidden Palace zone ‘theme’ sounded more like a cutscene, ala if Sonic was unleashing Super Sonic for the first time or something.

Anyone else betting on a Sonic Boom crossover later this year?

Does the update for Sonic 1 fix the rolling on a U curve from SYZ not increasing momentum?

The key deference in the Eggman boss fight is that it’s alot harder to predict where he’s gonna hit in the first phase. He’s also alot faster and more aggressive in both phases.

Could have fooled me. Best part is, the same “exploit” works in that if you constantly jump and spin dash for quick bursts of speed, the boss speeds up.

Has anyone else had issues with the updated Sonic 1 only giving me a white screen unless they pause?

It was a known bug that Taxman already patched in. It should be live by now for Android users, but may still be caught up in approval for Apple. Basically, it’s something to do with how the game engine smooths out the pixels.

How do we really know that the multiplayer MCZ was the intended music for HPZ? Long before anyone discovered a Game Genie or Action Replay code that took you to the remains of HPZ, people assumed that Track 10 of
the sound test was meant for that stage. Is it really more valid to say that since that MCZ was in the Nick Arcade version it’s supposed to be the song when the final (and the Simon Wai, I think?) had song 10?

Actually, in the betas which people found, the MCZ 2P song is used for HPZ BEFORE the “real” HPZ music was ever in the game.

Here I was thinking Eggman was actually playable lol, that would’ve been the one reason for me to buy this game.

It’s a free to play game, no need to buy it. (Though the game will try to make you buy stuff)
