SEGA is slowly getting around to that ever lasting wishlist of ports for its mobile game line up for Android, with the mobile rendition of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing finally making use of your favorite play on words such as “Crossing the finish line,” “Taking the checkered flag,” “Successfully left the pitstop area with repairs and improvements,” and more.
A simpler way to put it is the game is finally out on the Google Play store today for $1.99 which is based off of the iPhone version, which in turn is based on the Nintendo DS version of the game which supports multiplayer for up to four players local and online. Never mind that its not based on the more recent Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. Still, its a decent Mario Kart clone with Google+ support and a freemium pay model (Yay.) for Android which joins the several dozen other racers that just hapen to be on the Google Play market with no fanfare such as the sequel to Konami Krazy Racers, RE-Volt, and Snowboard Kids. Seriously, how does word even get out there?
Sonic Dash is still slated for later this year.

This is somehow the first I’ve even heard of any of these.
More Seaside Hill?
Yaayy…….
You *do* realize that this is a port of a 3-year-old game, right? Will you also complain about “waaah more Seaside Hill” when Sega inevitably ports Sonic Heroes to the next generation of consoles?
It’s still more Seaside Hill though >:P
And relax, it’s just a joke, I know it’s a port. You shouldn’t be taking it so seriously xD
(I have my doubts about Heroes being ported but eh, I don’t care that much xD)
I’m going to buy it, the only thing I don’t like is the fact it doesn’t use the new Google play services.
Still waiting for the Sonic 2 remake… hope it’s released before the end of the year.
Actually, it does use the new Google Play services for achievements, leaderboards and online multiplayer. Now that I’m using it, really wish it wouldn’t show personal information on the screen, at least for streaming purposes, and it definitely doesn’t have controller support, probably because those kinds of users would have an unfair advantage.
From what I played of it, its…okay? Its based on the DS version which I didn’t really care for, and a lot of the same problems exist in this version, with its own share of problems.
I’d buy it, but according to reviews, it runs slow and doesn’t support gamepads. If that gets fixed, I’ll pick it up. Probably won’t get fixed though, seeing the “attention” SEGA has been giving to Android lately. *cough*Sonic Dash*cough*
That’s good and all but where’s Sonic Dash?
Thanks, Sega. This is exactly what we wanted. It’s not like everyone was asking for Sonic Dash to come to android or anything.
Android again? Yeey
