Sonic Nendoroid Figure Looks Like a Mix of Both Generations

Today Good Smile Company announced a Sonic Nendoroid figure. If you don’t know what Nendoroids are, they are figures usually based on anime or manga characters (Sonic being an exception) made in a style with a huge head and small body. They are about 10 cm or 4 inch in height and are adjustable, meaning you can put them in various poses or give them different facial expressions.

The Sonic figure is based on the modern iteration, meaning it basicly looks like classic Sonic with green eyes (heh) and a thinner body. It comes with the item box, chaos emerald and checkpoint items shown in the pictures and will be released in April 2012 for ¥3,500, which is about $45 according to Google.

Interchangable heads/mouths, along with hands? I’m seeing different hands and facial expressions.

Like I said in the article, the facial expressions and poses are adjustable.

Just reserved mine this instant. This is the closest us Americans will ever get to a 20th Anniversary figurine of this caliber. This and the Mega Man model are the only two models I’ll ever be interested in. Even though, I have a feeling what with the shipping prices that I’m going to be paying a lot out of my wallet. :s

Personally, the figure looks more classic than it does modern, and all the better for it.

I literall just posted something on my blog discussing how I felt they should do a hybrid design exactly like this for the games from now on. They can’t pull a “TWO SONICS!!!!!11” story again, but they still want to appeal to both groups of fans. This looks great to me.

So… Is this what Sonic will look like in future games? Not that I have a problem with redesigns, that is.

it seems nice that’s how i imagined classic sonic

This model should be used for a Sonic/2/3&k remake (like NSMB).
Homing attack must be completely optional.

If Sonic Pocket Adventure was made in HD, this is probably how Sonic would have looked. It’s the perfect fusion of both styles!

Uh, S3&K Sonic never had green eyes, dude…

I’d be perfectly happy with this as the Sonic redesign, if it was. It’s an awesome balance between the old and new.

What an awesome hybrid. The only thing I dislike about Classic Sonic compared to his modern counterpart is his chubbier appearance and I’ve never had any problem with Modern Sonic’s green eyes. That design just looks really cool.

As others already said that’s actually a quite nice design and figure. It has a modern look with classic likeability.  If SEGA took a cue from this they might even win over a Classic Sonic purist like myself.

Awesome.DAMN I especially like that smile in the one where he holds is finger up it looks like a proper smile not that ugly smirk that Modern Sonic has.

I want to see this turned into a 3D model and hacked into Sonic Generations PC.

I doubt this figure would be the 3rd redesign of Sonic, but it looks pretty cool nevertheless. But if it was, then I’m in SEGA Heaven

Has anyone noticed how Sonic toys are usually teasers for later Sonic games? Such as Classic Sonic toys before Generations was announced.

This is just the style in which the series of figures is made. So don’t bother speculating if it’s the next redesign.
