Water Palace Is Not Windmill Isle

A couple of weeks back the Japanese commercial of Sonic Generations aired and showed what looked like Windmill Isle from Sonic Unleashed in the 3DS version. Now it turns out that everyone on the internet was wrong about this, as according to the Spanish Official Nintendo Magazine it’s the other stage with a Mykonos-inspired background, Water Palace from Sonic Rush. This means that one of Sonic’s handheld adventures is being represented on the 3DS version after all. Besides this, the magazine gave it a 90 out of 100 in their review and mentioned that there are more than 100 missions.

I always thought Water Palace was just across the sea to Windmill Isle anyway.

Water Palace is not Windmill Isle. But it is still proof that Takashi Iizuka made a master SHIT by breaking his promise to bring portables’ stages.

OK, we have Rush. But where are the Advances’ stages? Where is the stage for Sonic Rush Adventure?

I am completely disappointed by this. Iizuka is uncapable of keeping his promises.

looks like once again the HD version got the lower score like Colors, Unleashed, and all Mario and Sonic series, nothing new!

I suspected that it might be Water Palace. I decided I had obviously missed a crucial detail though, since everyone was calling it Apotos/Windmill Isle. Maybe there will be Apotos references in the level too though, even though it is Water Palace. (like the Hydrocity references in Seaside Hill on the console version)

I think you mean “Back 2 back it’s spinning on its back”. Real talk.

Well, that’s very interesting, an actual level from a handheald Sonic game (that isn’t Egg Rocket or Ice Paradise sad face)I’m excited to hear the classic remix of back2back but knowing Dimps it’ll just be the same track with a megadrive snare drum

I’m pretty disappointed to know that only two handheld games are taking place on the 3DS when they could of done a lot more with the level selections then pick pre-established ones on the console/PC versions..

call me wrong but to me the handheld games take place in their own universe, starting from the game gear games, then advance series and rush series. might as well throw in that sonic unleashed 2d phone game too.

I would definitely say that most of the Game Gear games do exist in their own separate continuity, though with some bending you could slide them into the main storyline. The Advance and Rush titles, though, seem to fit in the main canon with no trouble. Even though you can argue the quality of the story arc, Sonic Adventure 2 –> Sonic Advance 2 –> Sonic Heroes –> Shadow the Hedgehog –> Sonic Battle –> Sonic Advance 3 do form a nice little story where the handheld titles play off each other. You could argue if Sonic Advance 2 takes place before or after Sonic Adventure 2, but everything else holds together.

I wold have preferred the 3GS version to replace the ‘modern era’ levels with ‘handheld era’ levels.

YES! Back 2 Back is remixed! One of the coolest songs of the Sonic franchise!
