Sonic Generations Demo Rated in Australia

Fans may be taking a crack at Sonic Generations far sooner than expected, or at least a morsel of the game.

The Australian Classification Board has rated a demo for the 20th Anniversary flagship title G for General Audiences. Shucks, I was expecting the dark and grungy Adventure-Shadow era Sonic would spin dash robots in two with gratuitous bloo–motor oil.

There is an unusual twist to this in that it’s very rare to see a demo rated for release, exceptions being “demo games” like Square Enix’s Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy Prologus and Capcom’s upcoming Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version. There’s a chance the demo may wind up being packed in with a game or, like the aforementioned demo games, have its own little story in Green Hill Zone to tease the game.

No sign of this popping up through the ESRB or PEGI websites, but we’ll keep you posted for if and when it does.

Wait, if they’re going to release a small demo to the fans, Sega might be doing THE BEST THING EVER!
If the physics or something end up failing for the demo, fans will complain. With “rightful” complains due to the fans being the ones experiencing the gameplay. Sega will listen (hopefully) and (also hopefully) fix the errors they made.

Given how they’ve been taking fan input quite considerably as of late (even if some complaints are extremely asinine), it sounds like the demo will be used in this case as a sort of open beta test.
I can appreciate that since lord knows after their 15th Anniversary flagship title that they want/need to get this one spot on.

But the thing is you gotta remember now is with it releasing on the PS3 and 360 downloadable patch updates are now VERY realistically possible.

In Australia, any interactive media or film needs to be rated before it can be released to the public. Doing so before submitting and receiving a classification is illegal.

Which is how certain titles never make it or make it barely over here, such as Mortal Kombat being banned ’cause they don’t want to edit out what the game’s KNOWN FOR. (Just so you know, as an example, people controversially hated the Australian Classification Board for the amount of missing content from GTA4)

Actually, GTA4 was censored by Rockstar before it was even submitted it for classification. They actually submitted the PC version later, uncut, and it passed with the same MA15+ rating as the censored console version.
