Retro Contests

The “Tony is a Lightweight” Memorial Cocktail Contest

“What do you mean, ‘no contest’? I could have been way more drunk if I knew there was a contest!”

Linkin Park & Shadow AMVs. Embarrassing fancharacters. Dealing with 12-year-olds who get angry with you for daring to not be blindingly positive.

Man, the Sonic fandom can really drive you to drinking at times.

Therefore, it was a wise decision on behalf of Sega to hold Sonic Boom in a venue with a bar, because lord knows it was needed. To the credit of Club Nokia, they tried to join in the festivities of the night with a house cocktail: Sonic Rocks. Made with blue curacao, vodka, lemon and Sprite, the drink was described by forum regular Ashura2k as tasting “like a Chaos Emerald.” Your guess on interpretation is as good as mine. However, I do know one thing: a drink made with those ingredients is going to be relatively weak. That’s why I’m betting that the Retro community can come up with an even better Sonic-related cocktail–so much so that we’re giving away a set of Sonic shot glasses to whoever can create the best drink.

Details and rules after the cut.

The Rules

1. You must create a Sonic-related cocktail. Granted, we’ll be pretty lax with interpretation: if you want to make a Porker Lewis bacon martini or something involving Mega Mack, we’ll roll with it, but you need to tie it into the Sonic series somehow.

2. Your cocktail must be original in some way. We have Google too. We’re aware of the few “Sonic the Hedgehog” drinks floating about. Don’t be lame.

3. Your entry must be submitted by July 1, 2011.

Cocktails will be judged on their creativity, taste, and strength of drink. Judging shall be done by Sonic Retro staff. Winners will be announced either through a podcast or through a video demonstrating the winners. The grand prize winner will win a set of four (4) Sonic shot glasses, with the first and second runners-up receiving three packs of Sega Freaks cards.

Good luck! We look forward to testing your entries.

I have no idea if the whole “gumball eyes” was taken from the nickname for MS’ eyes, but it’s fun to think that they played on a fan insult. (Actually a pretty damn tasty icecream)

An “Angel Island”, meant to be drunk with sidekick as the points rack up at the end of the level.

1 oz white creme de cacao
    1 dash White Curacao liqueur
    1 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur

    I have two:
The first is a “Sally Acorn Screw-Nut”
    It’ll drive you nuts!

    In this order:
Take 3 tablespoons of either Jack Daniels or Famous Grouse Whisky.
Take 2 spoon fulls of Cranberry Juice.
Fill the glass half way with Blue cap whole Milk.
Top it off with some whipped cream.
Finally grab an Acorn and crack away, dusting the little bits that fall off, onto the whipped cream.
    Now enjoy.

It tastes good and it gets the job done.

The second being a “Pink and Green, Amy supreme” named after the oldskool Amy Rose.

This one’s sure to tickle your taste buds.

1/4 Glass of Green Cactus Jacks.
    1/4 Glass of Cranberry Juice.
    Take 2 tablespoons of Vodka.
Now take a Kiwi and a strawberry.
Slice the Kiwi and place it on the side of the glass and do the same with the Strawberry, add a small umbrella for added appeal.

Not eligible for the contest, but I’m throwing my own in.

Forenote: Sonic Retro and myself are not responsible if this injures or kills you. By mixing this, this is your own fault. Deal with it.

    The Sonic Rush
    -One blue colored gatorade bottle
-One four loco (blue can preferred)
-One red bull or equivalent energy drink
    -Optional: your pick of vodka

Basic college party mix, may go under a ton of different names. But the combination has been known to hospitalize/kill people if they drink too much. So… yeah. Drink at your own risk.
